I'm writing to thank assembly members Hal Smalley, Pete Sprague, Ron Long, Milli Martin and Bill Smith for doing the right thing and voting to fully fund education to the cap.
I believe there is no better investment a community can make than in the education of its young people. As Alaskans, we pay no income tax, and our property taxes are lower than most of the Lower 48. If we want to maintain our good quality of life, we need to step up and invest where it counts.
I hope as a next step, the local share funds can be distributed equitably to all public school students, including those who choose to attend charter schools.
