On behalf of Hospice of the Central Peninsula's board of directors, volunteers and staff, we want to thank Credit Union 1 (Soldotna Branch) for the honor of receiving funds generated in the amount of $9,500. The members, staff and community gave donations, their time, efforts and most of all their Hearts to host a fundraiser for Camp Mend A Heart. This gift will support our entire camp scheduled for Aug. 8 -- 10 at Solid Rock Bible Camp and will allow 20 children to participate. We are grateful to Credit Union 1 in helping to support our mission.
Camp Mend A Heart is a free bereavement day camp offered to local children ages 6 to 12. At this camp they will find an enjoyable, accepting and supportive environment in which they can freely express their feelings about the loss of a loved one.
Our camp professionals are friendly, compassionate, well trained and committed to helping grieving children. Campers will have the opportunity to meet with other children who have experienced similar losses and who are feeling the same things and to engage in activities involving art, music, recreation and support groups through which they can explore their grief. We help by enabling them to share their experiences with others as they move through the healing process.
