Curly Ashfield scholarship fund provides enriching experiences
Every year at this time the students and staff of Kenai Middle School participate in two-day "mini-courses." These courses include such exciting activities as visiting the Alaska SeaLife Center in Seward, hiking Fuller Lake Trail, rock climbing, king fishing on the Kasilof River, hunter education, canoeing to Porcupine Island, and many other worthwhile educational experiences.
As one might expect, a great deal of time and effort goes into making these courses a success. One group that needs to be singled out is the wonderful people associated with the Curly Ashfield Memorial Scholarship Fund. Kelly and Laurie Bookey have been instrumental in providing the necessary funds for countless students over the years so that they have the opportunity to participate in these activities. Their generosity, through the scholarship fund, is appreciated not only by the students and their families but also by those of us who are fortunate enough to see the smiles on the faces of our students.
Thanks again, Kelly and Laurie Bookey and all who have supported the Curly Ashfield Memorial Scholarship Fund in the past. Your generosity goes a long way in making a difference in the lives of our students.
