Redoubt Elementary appreciates support throughout school year

Posted: Wednesday, May 14, 2003

Once again another school year is quickly coming to an end and again Redoubt Elementary would like to express its appreciation to the businesses and community members who continue to support our educational endeavors.

A big thank you goes out to Safeway, Godfather's Pizza and Kaladi Brothers for continually providing support and incentives for reading and math. These businesses have come through on several occasions with donations of pizzas, cake and ice cream, and coffee (for the staff).

Although we probably shouldn't have to "bribe" children to get them to read or turn off their TVs, it does help to have some incentives. Mick Galic, Maria Thompkins and Heidi Metteer, the managers of these businesses, have also been very active on our Site Base and Title 1 committees and for that we are very appreciative.

We would also like to thank Central Emergency Services, Soldotna Police Department, Peninsula Safe Kids and the Alaska State Troopers for always supplying volunteers when we needed someone to read or teach us about safety and to the Kenai Peninsula College Learning Center for helping us to establish our

Foster Grandparent Program this year.

But most of all, we would like to thank our parents and grandparents, who are constantly available to listen to children read, provide rides for field trips, provide refreshments for parties, attend meetings, copy papers and all of the other things that you do that are too innumerable to mention.

So, to all of the folks mentioned above, thank you! Your support helps our students continue to be successful and continues to make Redoubt Elementary a positive place to learn.
