Tustumena Elementary

As a class project, the students in Ms. Sinnott's room have adopted the flowerbox in front of the school. Students have studied plants and trees, grown flowers from seeds and bulbs and made several varieties of flowers for art projects. They would all like to thank Amy, Rich, Damon and Alyse Dimmick-Haynes of Wintergreen's Nursery in Kasilof for their generous donation of materials and time for this project.

Tustumena staff assignments for 2003-04 are as follows: Mrs. Blossom, kindergarten and grade one; Mrs. Hopkins, grades one and two; Mrs. Worsfold, grades two and three; Mrs. Klunder, grade three; Mr. Michael, grade four; Mr. Cowans, grades four and five; to be announced, grades five and six; and Mrs. Knobf, grade six.

Parents wishing to request a specific teacher may do so by completing a form available in the office. The form must be submitted by May 22 to be considered for student placement for next year.

Tustumena families should note that the annual awards programs are as follows: Primary classes (kindergarten through third grade) will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, and intermediate classes (grades four through six) will be at 2 p.m. May 21. Both programs will be in the gym and open to the public.

The Soldotna Middle School band will travel to Tustumena on May 21 for a performance beginning at 11 a.m. in the school gym. Tustumena students always enjoy the opportunity to hear these fine young musicians.

Tustumena will conduct field day activities on the final day of school, which is May 22. The PTO will furnish lunch, and children are engaged in outdoor activities much of the day. Parent volunteers are needed to assist with each of these activities. Contact a teacher or the school if you are available to provide some assistance that day.

School will resume Wednesday, Aug. 27.
