Alaska Christian College set to open in the fall

According to Keith Hamilton, President of the new Alaska Christian College, kids are presently enrolling from all over the State of Alaska.

"Our first day of classes will be September 17th of 2001," Hamilton told the Kenai Chamber of Commerce last week. "We are going to be offering a certificate of Christian Studies. It's going to be a three quarter program which can be used a launching off year into a UAF program or other college degree," said Hamilton, who hoping for about 30 students for the first opening year. The majority effort to recruit students is targeted toward western and southern rural Alaska. Some of the curriculum will include classes such as Teaching Truth, Youth Ministry, Camping Ministry, and Applied Missions.

"On a regular basis, our students will be in schools, hospitals, soup kitchens, churches and other sites in our community," added Hamilton who has just arrived on the Peninsula from Colorado. Hamilton told the Chamber he had spent a total of four and half weeks in various Alaskan villages and felt that God had given him a heart to serve in Alaska.
