Carter to speak at North Peninsula chamber

Jim Carter of the Economic Development District will be the speaker at the North Peninsula Chamber of Commerce meeting, which starts at noon today at North Kenai Baptist Church. The public is invited to attend. For more information, call 776-3250.

AARP plans meeting today

The AARP will hold its monthly meeting at 1 p.m. today at the Kenai Senior Citizens Center. Stan Steadman will speak about the health care provided by the Cottonwood Center and the dental care for uninsured and-or underinsured individuals in the Kenai-Soldotna area. Parks and Rec Commission plans special meeting

The Kenai Parks and Recreation Commission will hold a special meeting at 5 p.m. today at the Kenai City Council Chambers at 210 Fidalgo Ave. The commission will formulate a recommendation for the city council regarding the Kenai Recreation Center partnering agreement between the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Kenai Peninsula and the city of Kenai. FAS workshop planned

Frontier Community Services' fetal alcohol syndrome program will sponsor a workshop on FAS on May 30 and 31 at the Kenai River Center in Soldotna. The workshop will be presented by Deb Evensen and will target educators, social service personnel and parents of children with FAS. The cost is $25.
