Skyview after-graduation committee to meet

The Skyview High School after-graduation committee will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays in the commons at the school until graduation. Volunteers are still needed. The topics will be volunteer scheduling, activity planning and party preparations. Parents of seniors are encouraged to attend. Gardening classes continue

Janice Chumley of the Cooperative Extension Service will hold the last sessions in a series of gardening classes at the Kenai Peninsula Food Bank, 33955 Community College Drive in Soldotna. A class on "pests — weeds and bugs" will be held Wednesday. Classes are held from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Chumley will lecture and provide recipes and practical Alaska advice. Law enforcement memorial service set

The Soldotna Police Department will host the annual Law Enforcement Memorial Service to honor fallen officers at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the department headquarters. The service will include remarks from Soldotna Police Chief John Lucking, Kenai Police Chief Chuck Kopp, Seward Police Chief Tom Clements, Homer Police Lt. Randy Rosencrans, Alaska State Trooper Capt. Tom Bowman, Soldotna Mayor Dave Carey and Kenai Peninsula Borough Mayor Dale Bagley. Refreshments will be served.

Retirement open house planned

There will be an open house from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Mountain View Elementary School in Kenai in honor of Satorene Jackson, who is retiring after 22 years of teaching. The public is encouraged to attend. Cards and letters may be sent to the school at 315 Swires Road, Kenai, AK 99669. For more information, call Darolyn at the school at 283-6148.

Garden plots available

The Kenai Parks and Rec. Department is taking reservations for community garden plots at the corner of Main Street Loop and First Avenue. Plots are available on a first come, first served basis. The cost is $20 and senior citizens are exempt.
