Girl dies after being kicked in the head by horse

FAIRBANKS (AP) -- A girl died after she was kicked in the head by a horse, Alaska State Troopers said.
Melissa Greer, 11, and her father were giving worm medicine Sunday to a horse at the family farm off Chena Hot Springs Road when the horse kicked the girl in the back of the head.
She was taken to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
''It's a real tragic deal,'' said Trooper Eric Olsen. ''A father and daughter were just spending time with their horses.''
