SHELDON POINT (AP) -- A Sheldon Point resident was arrested and charged with assault for allegedly shooting a shotgun through a closed window and hitting a man.

June Camille, 27, was charged with first-degree assault and fourth-degree misconduct involving weapons. She was being held Tuesday at the Yukon Kuskokwim Correctional Center.

Alaska State Troopers received a call late Sunday from the village public safety officer in Sheldon Point reporting the shooting. Camille allegedly fired a 12-gauge shotgun through a closed window. Some of the pellets hit Alphonsus Pete, 40, who was standing behind the window. The shooting occurred while Camille was attending a Mother's Day party at the home.

Pete was treated at the village clinic before being taken to a hospital in Bethel and then on to the Alaska Native Medical Center in Anchorage, where he was in stable condition.
