Just a few of the dozen people protesting the lack of crosswalks at the intersections of the Sterling Highway and both Kobuk and South Birch streets wait for a chance to symbolically cross the highway at Kobuk.
At exactly the same moment the protesters stopped traffic, the Soldotna City Council met in special session to pass a resolution strongly requesting a traffic light be installed at the Kobuk intersection and that in-road sensors and equipment be put in place at South Birch now, for a future traffic light.
