Rowing classes set

The Alaska Midnight Sun Rowing Association will hold learn to row classes May 27 through 29 and June 10 through 12 on the water at Mackey Lake in Soldotna, weather permitting. The classes are about eight hours long and are for community members ages 14 and up.

The class will cover the basics of sweep rowing, dry land training, terminology, boat handling skills, safety information, techniques and rowing fundamentals. The cost is $95.

Host families needed

The Peninsula Oilers Baseball is seeking host families. Host families will need to provide a room and bedding from June 1 to the beginning of August, meals as needed and a warm and welcoming environment.

Military support group forming

Military families, friends and community members interested in forming a support group to help send care packages, letters of support and give encouragement to each other are encouraged to call Gina at 260-2619.

Tree sale takes root

The 4-H Leaders Council will host its annual Global Re-Leaf tree sale at 9 a.m. Saturday in the parking lot at the Peninsula Center Mall.
