Need a job? Looking for an employee?

That's what the peninsulawide job fair is all about. Sponsored by Kenai's Peninsula Job Center, it began Tuesday, runs from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. today and will continue through Thursday.

Fourteen employers are participating over the three-day event, and, as of early Tuesday afternoon, 30 potential employees had stopped by.

"We thought it was an opportunity to put employers and applicants together and see what happens," said Marie English, a Department of Labor employment specialist.

"This is the first job fair on the peninsula," said English.

But it won't be the last. English said plans are to make this an annual event. Organizers will be reviewing feedback with an eye toward future fairs.

"We welcome any input on how we can improve it," English said. "Anything employers would like to see or times they'd like to have it. We'd certainly like to hear from them."

The fair allows employers to network, and space is being provided for them to talk with prospective employees. It also focuses on the needs of applicants.

"One of the really nice things about it is we've got employers here and all these resources available for application," English said, listing the resource lab, copiers, fax machine and resume assistance.

"Anything an applicant needs to become job ready, we've got it."
