Youth Fine Arts Institute

Description: Taught by master arts teachers, the Youth Fine Arts Institute is an opportunity for kids and their parents to make choices in the arts that are important to them during the summer. The institute is recognized for excellence by The Kennedy Center for the Per-forming Arts. Funding is provided in part by the Alaska State Council on the Arts, the Kenai Fine Arts Center and private donations. Flyers, with choices and registration information, will be delivered through the schools and registration will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis, through the Soldotna Community Schools office.

Ages: Students in pre-kindergarten through sixth grade

Pre-K and K students are in a self-contained classroom.

In the first- through sixth-grade portion, the students will pick four classes (all in the arts) from such options as soft sculpture, puppetry, dance, digital art, photography, storytelling, etc.

Dates: Monday through Friday, June 14-18

Hours: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Cost: $150 for the five days
