Allan Millers Sterling Elementary School sixth-grade class teamed up with the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Alaska State Parks and and the Kenai River Sportfishing Association to do bank rehabilitation work at the Pillars boat launch Friday. The project capped the class year of salmon studies and gave the students a chance to do some river-based community service. The class moved a couple tons of dirt to fill in a 20-foot section of bank with fiber and willow to recreate some salmon habitat there.
