ANCHORAGE (AP) -- Police arrested three Homer teen-agers Thursday after two of them allegedly assaulted a police officer in Anchorage.
Police said Andrew Palmer, 18, stole the van from a repair shop in Homer last week. Officers arrested Palmer in Anchorage after police talked to the other two teens accused in the altercation with Officer Chris Sims when he stopped them for driving erratically in his neighborhood.
The van stalled in Sims' driveway and the officer confronted the teen-agers inside. Police said the van sped forward and the driver tried to run Sims over.
Sims reportedly grabbed onto the van's windshield and was carried about 60 yards. He then confronted the youths.
The younger teen briefly escaped before he was caught and 19-year-old Christopher M. Lusardi was immediately taken into custody. Police said Lusardi faces various charges, including assault and vehicle theft.
Charges againts the 16-year-old include assault and criminal mischief.
Sims and the 16-year-old suffered minor injuries in the incident.
