On behalf of the Kenai Peninsula Food Bank board of directors and staff, we wish to thank Paul Newman for the $5,000 donation he provided for us to purchase and install a commercial dishwasher and side tables and make the necessary remodeling adjustments. In 2004, the food bank's soup kitchen serves an average of more than 1,900 diners each month, an increase of 8 percent since 2003.
Local suppliers and individuals played a very important part in our operations during the installation phase. The dishwasher is now installed, the divided sink is reinstalled, and the kitchen preparation area is almost back to normal.
Thanks to the following local businesses and individuals who helped us with this project: Asplund Supply, John White Plumbing and Heating, Kelley Electric, Spenard Builders, Alaska Industrial Hardware, Jay's Painting, Columbia Paint, Dale Wearing (sheetrocker), Home Depot and 4D Interiors. Fred Meyer and Country Foods helped us with extra food products which we could serve during the construction period.
