Nicole Van Ryzin and Chelsea Martin scored two goals apiece as visiting Skyview secured a conference tournament berth with a 9-2 victory over Seward on Thursday.
“We didn’t make it in my first year. We made it last year. And this year we’re looking to actually make some noise at the tournament,” said Panthers’ coach Ronnie Kier. “The girls were pretty excited after the win.”
Joanna Graves, Michaela Hutchison, Claudia Sohns and Amanda and Mallory Millay also scored for the Panthers, who went 3-1-1 in their final five contests to finish the regular season at 3-4-2.
“We kind of figured with the team we have, if we could get some games under our belt, we would start coming together,” he said. “I’m hoping we’re peaking at the right time.”
The Skyview boys (2-7) also locked up a region spot with a 1-0 win over the Seahawks.
Buck Kunz scored the Panthers’ lone goal with roughly 20 minutes to play in the game.
