ANCHORAGE (AP) Two people were injured when shooting broke out in an East Anchorage parking lot early Sunday morning.

Anchorage police reported that a group of men were arguing in the parking lot of Phillips Restaurant at about 4 a.m.

One witness reported seeing up to 25 people involved in the argument, police said.

An off-duty security guard for the restaurant, Anthony Marvin, 35, was shot in the hand and leg when he went outside to see what was happening.

Jessica Smotherman, 18, was in the back seat of a parked car in the lot when a bullet went through the window, hitting her in the neck and exiting her cheek.

Both were taken to Providence Alaska Medical Center.
