Recent events make area veterans feel appreciated

Posted: Wednesday, May 19, 2004

The performance of the U.S. Army Band in Kenai last week had to be one of the many outstanding events on the peninsula this year.

The music was outstanding, and the patriotism impressive. Of special interest was the salute to the services and the area veterans. To be able to stand while their particular service anthem was played made a veteran feel appreciated and nine feet tall. It was a wonderful evening.

Following that outstanding performance, a week later was the VFW, Skyview and Cook Inlet Academy Tribute to Veterans. It was a great evening with good food, good entertainment and a sincere show of appreciation to those who served their country.

The VFW, students of the participating schools, teachers and others who organized the event deserve a grateful thanks.
