Fake $50 bills have shown up at businesses in Soldotna and Kenai in the past week, according to police.
On Friday, Kenai police were notified by the Wells Fargo Bank branch there that two counterfeit bills were brought in by Kenai area merchants in the preceding two days.
Also on Friday, Soldotna police were called to that city's branch of the same bank where officials said one of the bogus 50s was turned in by a merchant from the Peninsula Center Mall.
All three of the bills have the same serial number, AA10694286A, and appear to have been made on a color copier, according to a police report.
A police investigation is continuing.
Anyone with more information about the bills is asked to call Soldotna or Kenai police.
