Sears Elementary

Posted: Wednesday, May 19, 2004

Sears Elementary is designating May 25 as Don Weller Day in celebration of his 24 years of service to the students and families at the school. The public is invited to attend a short assembly at 2:30 p.m. in the school gym and stay afterward to greet Mr. Weller. The theme for the day is "Mr. Weller, Take Me Out to the Ball Game." Crackerjacks will be served to all.

The annual Bike Rodeo for students in grades one and two will be Thursday.

An all-school picnic also will be held Thursday, with lunch provided by the Moose Lodge for all students.

Parents should check with classroom teachers this week for teacher requests for the 2004-05 school year.

Kindergarten registrations still are being accepted. Parents can stop by the school until June 4 for a registration packet.

Multimedia artist Natasha Johnson is working with all students on a painting and collage project on canvas. Stop by the art room to visit Johnson at work. Artist in Residence is sponsored by the Sears PTA and Alaska State Council for the Arts. There also will be an artist reception for Johnson from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Friday.

Remember to turn in all library books.
