The students enjoyed field trips last week. Grades three through eight traveled to Anchorage for an overnight stay and a full day of touring Earthquake Park, the Anchorage Daily News, the Anchorage Museum, the FBI building and Alaska Wild Berry Products. The students in kindergarten through second grade stayed in the Kenai-Soldotna area and toured the National Wildlife Refuge Headquarters and Keen Eye Trail, Safeway, Soldotna Visitors Center and Soldotna Creek Park. Thanks to Lori Chase and Mike and Jane Dorman for helping with the driving and chaperoning for those trips. This week students in grades two through eight are looking forward to participating in the Hershey Track Meet in Nikiski on Friday.

Congratulations to Josh McKee for passing his subtraction facts in 3 minutes. Scott Habermann and Cody Burow both passed their subtraction facts in 5 minutes.

Next week is the last week of school for Grace Lutheran. Eighth-grade graduation services will be held at 7 p.m. May 26. Eighth-graders Samantha Chase, Aaron Ames, Jacob Pokryfki and Todd Burow each will give a brief commencement address. Grace Lutheran's annual last-day-of-school picnic will be May 27 and will feature hot dogs for all and the traditional water balloon fun at the end of the day.
