An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 5.5 shook the Kenai Peninsula on Wednesday afternoon.
The quake was centered across Cook Inlet from Anchor Point about 35 miles west.
It struck at 5:12 p.m. with a quick, strong jolt.
The earthquake was felt strongly on the peninsula and as far away as Anchorage.
There were no reports of damage.
