Lessons from field trip will spread to families during summer outings

Posted: Tuesday, May 20, 2003

Our classes would like to express our grateful appreciation to Three Bears, Fred Meyer and Carrs for their generous donations to our recent "Leave No Trace" field trip. Our two fifth grades learned a lot and ate plentifully thanks to the local businesses whose donations made it all possible.

We'd also like to thank Michelle, Shelley and Mike from the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge whose expertise made the learning fun and valuable. The students continue to bring up facts they learned and will teach their families as summer excursions are made into our great outdoors.

In addition, the two-day camp and hike wouldn't have been possible without the parents who gave of themselves as chaperones and drivers for the students. We can never thank them enough. We also appreciate all the food donated by the families, as well as the preparations necessary for camp attendance.

It definitely indicates the many reasons why we all love to live on the Kenai Peninsula!

With thanks,

Rose Ann Keating
