Area chambers set schedule

Chambers of commerce speakers for the upcoming week include:

Marty Horgan, regional manager of Dunkin and Bush Inc., will speak at the Nikiski Chamber of Commerce meeting at noon today at North Kenai Baptist Church. For more information, call Judene Van Cleave at 776-5551.

Tourism conference scheduled

"Packaging the Kenai Peninsula" regional tourism conference will be held Friday through Sunday at the Cooper Landing Chamber of Commerce. Nationally acclaimed speaker Joe Veneto will speak about "The Power of Packaging" and facilitate a full day workshop. Conference attendants may participate in complimentary recreational activities and a tour on Sunday. The conference is sponsored by the Kenai Peninsula Tourism Marketing Council. Nominations for older workers sought

The Alaska Commission on Aging is seeking nominations for the Experience Works Prime Time Awards Program, which honors outstanding older workers from all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.

Businesses and individuals may nominate Alaska residents age 65 or older who are employed and working at least 20 hours each week. The honoree must be willing to travel to Washington, D.C., from Oct. 5 to 9 for award events. Individuals who take part in a subsidized employment program funded by the local, state or national government are not eligible.
