BETHEL (AP) -- A search continued Monday for a Pilot Station man who failed to meet some friends for a hunting trip, Alaska State Troopers said.
Searchers began dragging the water of the Archeulinguk River in hopes of finding 31-year-old John Edwards and the snowmachine he was riding when he disappeared Saturday.
Edwards left Pilot Station at about noon and was to meet up with four other hunters who were traveling to the river area on their own snowmachines. The four arrived back at Pilot Station early Sunday and discovered that Edwards was missing.
A four-man search team began a ground search at daybreak Sunday. Alaska State Troopers joined with an air search in the afternoon.
At around 6 p.m., snowmachine tracks were found leading to open water on the Yukon River approximately one-half mile from Pilot Station in the direction of the Archuelinguk River.
