Anchor Point resident Margaret "Maggie" (Steik) Rucker died Thursday, May 16, 2002, at South Peninsula Hospital in Homer after a long bout with cancer.
Interment will be at the Stariski Cemetery near Anchor Point, where her husband is buried.
Mrs. Rucker was born in 1929 to Chris and Julia Steik, the fifth of 17 children. She met and married her husband, John T. Rucker Jr., in 1950.
She was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Post No. 10221 in Anchor Point.
Mrs. Rucker was preceded in death by her husband and a son, Roger Dale Rucker, both in 1986.
She is survived by her siblings, Leo, Alvin, Eugene, John and Mike Steik, Marion Hostetter and Doris Kelly, all of Ninilchik, Carl Steik of Anchorage and Shirley Warner of Twainharte, Calif.; children, Jennifer McGrady and her husband, Richard, of Kenai, Christopher John Rucker of Anchorage, Vonnie Marie Fry and her husband, Dennis, of Hayfork, Calif., and Russell Eugene Rucker of Anchor Point; grandchildren, Charlie Yamada and Felicia Edwards of Kenai, Justin McGrady of Willard, Mo., and Heidi, Dennis Jr. and Dillon Fry; and four great-grandchildren.
Arrangements were made by the Homer Funeral Home.
