Dig in to edible gardening workshop

Janice Chumley, IPM Tech with Soldotna Cooperative Extension Services office, will speak on edible gardening in Alaska from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. today at the Adkins-Lindhartsen Chiropractic and Massage Center, 36304 Kenai Spur Highway in Soldotna.

Dr Gloria Adkins will speak on the ergonomics of gardening and protecting your back and joints while enjoying the fruits of your labor.

Chamber offers motivated excursion

The Soldotna Chamber of Commerce has put together a special package for its members to attend a motivational seminar featuring Rudy Giuliani, Zig Ziglar, Steve Forbes and others on June 9 in Anchorage.

The cost is $20 and seats are limited to the first 50 people to R.S.V.P. Tickets include transportation to and from Sullivan Arena, with the bus leaving the Soldotna chamber at 5 a.m. and returning at approximately 7:45 p.m.

Workshop to focus on record keeping

The Small Business Development Center will host a workshop from 5 to 9 p.m. June 16 at the Red Diamond Center, Suite 12.

The presenter discuss why keeping required business information efficiently helps you be organized in tracking records for timely and efficient tax reporting. A prepayment fee of $35 guarantees a seat.

Kenai gears up for celebration

The Kenai Chamber of Commerce is gearing up for another festive Fourth of July celebration in Kenai. In celebration of the 50th year of statehood, the event theme is "The 49th Turns 50."

The parade will kick off the day, followed by vendor booths, games and entertainment on the park strip. The chamber is seeking volunteers, sponsors, parade entrants, vendors and entertainers.

The Kenai Peninsula Association of Realtors is sponsoring an auction for its scholarship fund from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday. There will be free food.

The Business of Clean Energy in Alaska conference will be held at the Dena'ina Civic and Convention Center in Anchorage on Monday and Tuesday.

The keynote speaker will be author, educator and business consultant Hunter Lovins on the topic of unleashing Alaska's new energy economy.
