ANCHORAGE (AP) -- A man charged with murder, manslaughter and driving while intoxicated in connection with a vehicle accident that killed a 16-year-old girl pleaded innocent Monday in Anchorage Superior Court.
Prosecutors say Larry Murphy, 20, was either suicidal or homicidal when he drove his car into a light pole, killing his girlfriend, Chelsey Foster Sept. 22.
Foster died at the scene. Murphy was indicted last week by a grand jury.
Assistant district attorney Jay Fayette said Murphy's blood-alcohol level was well above the legal limit. Fayette said the car was probably traveling at over 100 mph when it slammed into a light pole on Lake Otis Boulevard.
