ANCHORAGE (AP) -- A man who police said fired a flare gun at his ex-wife's fiance last week was arrested Tuesday after his release from Providence Alaska Medical Center.

Douglas Goldsmith, 49, faces charges of attempted murder, arson and assault, said police spokesman Ron McGee.

Goldsmith burst into his ex-wife's trailer home May 16 and fired twice with the flare gun. Marlon Cloud, 40, suffered burns in the attack.

The flares set the mobile home on fire.

Goldsmith was pulled out of an annex to the burning trailer more than two hours later.

Goldsmith is being held at Anchorage Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.
