Princess Tours bus crashes into pickup at Anchorage construction site

Posted: Wednesday, May 22, 2002

ANCHORAGE (AP) -- A Princess Tours bus with 43 passengers on board failed to stop for a construction zone and smashed into a pickup truck Monday, state troopers reported.

The bus, driven by Shellie Griswold, 30, Eagle River, was southbound at Mile 75 Seward Highway, about five miles south of Portage.

Griswold did not slow down enough to stop for the construction and rear-ended a 1995 Ford pickup driven by Dennis Trimm, 60, of Kasilof. Trimm's pickup then crashed forward into a 1985 Subaru Brat driven by Shawn Raemaeker, 27, of Soldotna.

Trimm and Raemaeker suffered neck and back pain. Raemaeker was taken to Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, where he was treated and released. No injuries were reported among people on the tour bus.

Troopers said no citations have been issued but an investigation continues.
