CORDOVA (AP) -- A 40-year-old woman is accused of stabbing her boyfriend on a fishing vessel in Prince William Sound after he refused to dock in Cordova and buy her alcohol.

Ann Atwood was charged with assault and is being held at the Cordova jail pending a transfer to Anchorage

She is charged with stabbing Dan Pettit, 46, as he lay in bed on board the Midnight Sun. The boat was anchored along Spike Island near the Cordova harbor.

Pettit suffered a 4-inch wound in the lower right side of his back.

''The defendant asked Pettit to take her to town to buy alcohol,'' according to a criminal complaint against Atwood. ''Pettit told the defendant that she was not going anywhere because he had to go commercial fishing at 5:30 in the morning. Pettit stated the defendant then replied that he wasn't going anywhere either and stabbed him in the back with a filet knife.''

Atwood had consumed several beers prior to the stabbing, the complaint said.
