Many contribute to success of indoor soccer program

The Boys and Girls Club Indoor Soccer Program concluded yet another "hughly" successful season, involving nearly 550 girls and boys from all over the central Kenai Peninsula. This fun and positive opportunity for the kids was only possible through the efforts and support of lots of people in our community.

Many, many thanks to the truly awesome individuals who volunteered many, many hours of their time to coach a team: Mark McGarry, Holly Norwood, Margo Reilly, Dottie Herrick, Lisa Zulkanycz, Kelly Williams, Lara Ross, Phil Sheridan, Bill Mabrey, Teela Rodriguez, Kelly Rust, Veon Kiech, Phil Sonnichsen, Shelly Borman, Cheryl Rubalcava, Lori Wagoner, Teri Ostrander, Lisa Schmitter, Monte Roberts, Kendra Remsen, Jay Griffel, Sharon Dallmann, Jimmy Love, Kim Murray-Senn, Paul Ostrander, Loretta Eaton, Katie Malatesta, Laurie Ely, Andy McClue, Phillip Rubalcava, Crystal Nygard, Doug Schoessler, Joe Aley, Keely Boyle, Camile Clucas, Terri Springer, Roger Phillips, Tammy Clancy, Shannon McGillivray, Ted VanAntwerp, Darryl Byerley, Mike Ashwell, Vanessa Gabel, Kirsten Ehrhardt, Joe Shirley, Jackie Kriner, Keith Randall, Bob Shirley, Kenny Leaf, Bobby Clucas, Kimb Remsen, Horst Haunold, Nicki Munn, Teresa Saner, Pete Goggia, Teea McBride, Doug Munn, Dan Rich and Sam Steiner.

Also, the Boys and Girls Club greatly appreciates the local community-minded businesses who gave their financial support by sponsoring a team. The support of the following helps ensure the program continues to be a quality one: Country Foods, River City Dental, XTO Energy, Country Insurance & Financial Services, Eurest Support Services, Short Stop, Kristie Leaf -- State Farm Insurance, North Country Kids, Wells Fargo, Alaska West Air and Paradisos Restaurant.

Special thanks to Bob Frates and the city of Kenai Recreation Center for the donation of Saturday morning gym time; Tony Lewis and Kenny Leaf for getting the program up and running; and the gym schedulers in every central peninsula school who worked hard to find practice time for the 50 teams involved in the league.
