ANCHORAGE (AP) A former Homer High School basketball star is returning to Alaska to coach the Seawolves at the University of Alaska Anchorage.

The university announced the hiring of Jody Hensen as women's basketball coach Wednesday.

Hensen began her coaching career as a volunteer assistant coach at UAA in 1995. She then moved to assistant positions at several other schools.

Her most recent job was at the University of New Mexico.

Hensen went to college at the University of Northern Arizona after leading the Homer Mariners to three state titles.

At Northern Arizona, she set a school record for most three-point shots made during a career. She graduated in 1995.
