ANCHORAGE (AP) -- An Anchorage woman was stabbed to death Wednesday and police arrested her husband on murder charges.

Police identified the woman as Brenda Wallner. Her husband, Isaiah Wallner, was charged with first- and second-degree murder and was being held at Anchorage Jail on $500,000 bail.

Police said the couple argued inside an apartment in the city's Fairview neighborhood. Brenda Wallner was stabbed shortly before 7 a.m.

The wounded woman ran across an alley to another apartment where several residents came to her assistance.

The woman was rushed to Alaska Regional Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Officers contacted the man and he put a knife to his own neck and threatened suicide inside the couple's apartment, police said. The man dropped the knife when police used a ''less-lethal'' weapon to shoot him in the arm, shin and chest.

The woman's 7- and 2-year-old sons were inside the apartment and apparently witnessed the stabbing, police said.
