Assembly sends powerful message by honoring 'stewardship rangers'

As director of Youth Restoration Corps, I would personally like to thank Kenai Peninsula Borough Mayor Dale Bagley, assemblyman Gary Superman and the borough assembly for their resolution of support May 21, showing public recognition for the youth of North Star Elementary School as "Stewardship Rangers of Daniels Creek."

This type of act sends a strong message to our youth and community that you can make a difference and together we will. The sixth-grade class has started in the right direction for others to follow. Thank you for giving them this recognition by supporting their efforts.

I anticipate that we will continue hearing more about the Stewardship Ranger Program, as our youth start educating us about the importance of all our watersheds and anadromous streams throughout the peninsula. This is just one more opportunity for our youth and community to promote environmental stewardship through support of the Youth Restoration Corps.
