Community contributes to great school year

Posted: Sunday, May 23, 2004

Again this has been a great year for my students at Nikiski Middle-High School and that is because of the caring community that we live in. I would like to thank everyone involved in making this a great year for my students and myself.

We had two wonderful job sites that were provided by two of our local churches. I would like to thank Inlet Faith and Pastor Dale Lloyd and Mount Redoubt Baptist Church and their pastors, Lee and Roy Moore. Both of these churches made the students feel so welcome and needed. Thank you for allowing us to use your facility as a job training site.

We also were out and about within the community. We would like to thank the following recreational facilities for allowing us to come in and have a great time: North Peninsula Recreation Service Area, AlaskaLanes, Kenai Public Library and Kenai Visitors and Cultural Center. All of these facilities were wonderful at providing a great time for the students.

Every week we would shop at the community grocery stores and all of the employees were so friendly and helpful. I would like to thank Safeway, Three Bears and our local store, M & M Market.

Of course the favorite part of our community outings was always where were we going to eat. Thanks to all of the following for the friendly atmosphere and great food: McDonald's, Pizza Hut, Arby's, Subway, Little SkiMo's and two great places right here in Nikiski, Treehouse Restaurant and Bear Paw.

Again, you can see that this is a great community that we live in and are raising and educating our children in. I can't say enough about everyone that has contributed to making this successful year for my classroom. I can speak for Mrs. Lettington and all of my students in saying thank you for providing us with this great community to live in.
