CPGH board to meet

Central Peninsula General Hospital Inc. will hold a board of directors meeting at 4:30 p.m. Thursday in the Borealis Room at the hospital.

Pancake breakfast fund-raiser planned

Ninilchik Emergency Services will host its annual pancake breakfast fund-raiser from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and May 30 at the Ninilchik fairgrounds. Tickets are available at the door.

KPH plans one-day closure

The Kenai Public Health Center will be closed May 30 in observance of Memorial Day. For more information, call 335-3400.

Lifeguard training, swim lessons available

The Skyview High School pool will offer American Red Cross lifeguard training from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 31 through June 3. Upon completion, participants will earn certificates in lifeguard training, first aid and CPR for the professional rescuer.

The pool also is taking registration for its summer swim season. It is offering four sessions: session one — June 6-17; session two — June 20 through July 1; session three — July 11 through 22; and session four — July 25 through Aug. 5.

Soccer camp set for kickoff

The Boys and Girls Club will sponsor a World Cup Soccer Camp from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. May 31 through June 3 at the Kenai Middle School soccer fields. The cost is $100. For more information, call 283-2682.

Brain injury awareness walk set

The ninth annual Brain Awareness Walk and barbecue will be held at 11 a.m. June 4 at Kenai Central High School. Registration begins at 10:30 a.m.

The walk begins at KCHS and will follow the bike path into Kenai and end at the Steve Shearer Memorial Soft Ball Park. The barbecue will follow, open to walkers and the public.

Walk packets and sponsor sheets are available at the Independent Living Center on Kalifornsky Beach Road or from Bridges in Soldotna by the David Douthit Veterans Memorial Bridge.

Volunteers are needed to help make potato salad at 10 a.m. June 3 at the Kenai Elks Lodge. For more information, call Richard or Mary Warrington at 283-5711.

Aging brain seminar scheduled

Frontier Community Services and the Alaska Geriatric Education Center will host Dr. Ron Lucchino from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. June 6 at the Kenai River Center. The topic will be normal aging, dementia, medication and more.
