Health center plans holiday closure

The Kenai Public Health Center will be closed Monday to observe Memorial Day. It will reopen 8 a.m. Tuesday. For more information, call 335-3400.

Drama camps offered

The following drama camps will be offered this summer for area youth:

* The Kenai Performers will hold a drama camp for kids coming out of first grade through sixth grade from 9 a.m. to noon weekdays for four weeks beginning Tuesady through the show, which will be performed June 20, 21 and 22 at the Playhouse in Kenai. Camp includes experiences in all aspects of theatre from sets, costumes, makeup, tech, and all stage craft to acting, singing, dancing and writing. Each camp will create its own musical out of a story the campers choose and develop together.

The fee for each camper is $400 for the four-week camp. Send registration forms and check to Kenai Performers P.O. Box 914 Kenai, AK 99611, or register and pay online at www.kenaiperformers.org. Fees include tuition for classes (four paid staff members), a camp T-shirt, dance shoes provided if necessary (to be kept by Kenai Performers for future use) and a comp ticket for the camp show.

* Triumvirate Theatre's Soldotna summer drama camp will put on the show "Pirates of Penzance." The director will be Paul Morin and the producer will be Joe Rizzo. The camp will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday starting June 16 and until July 11 and 12. The camp will be held at theatre in the Peninsula Center Mall in Soldotna. The Fourth of July will be observed as a holiday. Kids will learn facets of staging a production including acting, singing, set painting and set construction. The camp price is $400. Campers will receive $100-off the price by registering online at www.triumviratetheatre.org before midnight May 31. For more information, call Joe Rizzo at 776-1163.

Camp includes experiences in all aspects of theatre from sets, costumes, makeup, tech, and all stage craft to acting, singing, dancing and writing. Each camp will create its own musical out of a story the campers choose and develop together.

* Triumvirate Theatre's Nikiski summer drama camp will put on the show "Jungle Book." The directors will be Joe and Paulene Rizzo. The camp will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday starting July 7 and running until July 19 at Nikiski Middle-High School. Kids will learn the facets of staging a production including acting, singing, set painting and set construction. The camp price is $150. Brain awareness walk slated

The Kenai Peninsula Brain Injury Support Group will sponsoring its 12th annual awareness walk and barbecue May 31. Starting at Kenai Central High School the walk will continue to the Green Strip Park on Main Street Loop. Registration begins at 10:30 a.m. with the walk beginning at 11 a.m. Participants will receive a certificate of appreciation.
