Betty Lavern Pollreisz

Longtime Soldotna resident Ms. Betty Lavern Pollreisz died Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at Central Peninsula Hospital in Soldotna. She was 78.

Memorial services will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Thursday, May 27, 2010 at the Kenai Masonic Lodge on the Sterling Highway in Soldotna.

Ms. Pollreisz was born Jan. 25, 1932 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was 1 of 11 children. As a young girl the family moved to California. Betty enjoyed going to garage sales, bingo, fishing and pull tabs.

Her family wrote, "An accomplished, seamstress and upholsterer, she also enjoyed crafts. She will be greatly missed by her son."

Ms. Pollreisz was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Pollreisz; son, Ray Pollreisz, parents, eight siblings and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is survived by her son, John P. Pollreisz of Soldotna; grandson, Anthony Pollreisz; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill and Vi Gattenby of Anacortes, Washington and James and Christine Gattenby of Soldotna; niece and caregiver, Doris Gattenby of Soldotna; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations to help out with the funeral costs may be made at any Credit Union One Bank, account No. 466249 S1.1.

Arrangements were made by Peninsula Memorial Chapel.
