Planning group to meet for relay

The Relay for Life planning committee will meet at 6 p.m. today at the Borough Building in conference Room C. Participants are asked to use the back entrance.

Relay for Life is a fund-raising event for the American Cancer Society and will be held June 3 and 4 at the Skyview High School track. To put a team together, call Sylvia at 262-7581 or Penny at 283-9650. If you have other questions or would like to be a volunteer for the event, call Lisa at 262-6656.

Tourette Syndrome workshop set

The Tourette Syndrome Association of Alaska will host Dr. Cathy L. Budman from 1 to 4 p.m. May 31 at Alaska Regional Hospital, classroom No. 2. Budman is an expert in psychiatry and neurology at the NYU School of Medicine. A question and answer session will follow. Refreshments will be served. For more information, call (907) 398-2939.

Swim lessons available

Kenai Central High School pool will hold five group learn to swim lessons. Session dates are as follows: Session one May 31-June 10; session two June 13-24; session three; June 27-July 8 (closed July 4); session four July 11-22; and session five July 25-Aug. 5. Disk golf park to open

The Kenai Eagle Disc Golf Club in conjunction with the Kenai Parks and Recreation Department will host the opening of a nine-hole disk golf course from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 4 at the course at the end of Tinker Lane in Kenai behind the Peninsula Oilers field. The event is free and includes free hot dogs to the first 300 people. Prize giveaways also are planned.

Parade entries, vendors sought

The Kenai Chamber of Commerce is accepting applications for Fourth of July Parade entries and vendor booths. The theme for the parade is "The Spirit of Dipnetting on the Kenai." Forms are available at the chamber cabin at 402 Overland or by calling 283-7989.

Baseball series seeks sponsors

Frontier Community Services is seeking sponsorships, donations and possible vendors for its annual World Series Baseball event July 9 at the Kenai Little League fields. FCS provides services to individuals who experience disabilities. The event provides its consumers an opportunity to participate in sport activities.
