Send us your pet photos!

Pet photos can be color or black and white and should be no smaller than 3-by-5 inches. They may include people. Limit one photo per household. They can be dropped off at the Kenai office, mailed to the Clarion at P.O. Box 3009, Kenai, 99611, or e-mailed to news@peninsulaclarion.com. A brief explanation of the photo, the pet's and owner's names, owner's address and phone number must be included.

Only photos with an address written on the back will be returned. For more information, call 335-1237.

La Leche group to meet

The La Leche League of Soldotna and Kenai will meet from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. the first Tuesday of the month at the Frontier Community Services Playroom in the Red Diamond Center on Kalifornsky Beach Road. The league is a breastfeeding resource group that offers free monthly meetings, mother-to-mother breastfeeding support, telephone assistance and a lending library. Pregnant and breastfeeding mothers are invited to attend. Babies are welcome.

Hazard tree removal offered

The Kenai Peninsula Borough is offering a free right of way hazard tree removal project to all borough landowners with beetle killed spruce tree within 100 feet of a state- or borough-maintained road. Work request forms are available at the Kenai Peninsula Spruce Bark Beetle office at 253 Wilson Lane in Soldotna.

Take Off Pounds Sensibly (TOPS) AK No. 218 meets at 10 a.m. Wednesdays at Christ Lutheran Church in Soldotna. Weigh-ins begin at 9 a.m. For more information, call 252-5570.

Food bank seeks volunteers

The Kenai Peninsula Food Bank at 33955 Community College Drive in Soldotna, needs volunteers to help with planning its annual soup supper and auction, which will be held Aug. 29.

Call 262-3111 if you can help the fundraising committee gather items for the event.

Pop Warner fundraiser continues

The Kenai Peninsula Pop Warner Football Association's online auction continues through May 31 at http://kppopwarner.cmarket.com. The fundraising event provides community members an opportunity an to bid on items, such as autographed sports memorabilia, trips, including local fishing trips and bed and breakfast stays, art and one-of-a-kind items.

The money will help support football registration scholarships and organizational costs.

The group also seeks donated items or services.

Football registration is open on a first-come, first-served basis.
