Patriotic celebrations planned

The Immanuel Baptist Church in Kenai will host God and country rallys at 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Sunday at the church at Mile 15 Kalifornsky Beach Road. The featured speaker will be retired Colonel J. Tyler Ryberg. His topic will be “The Biblical Truths of Fighting Global War on Terrorism.”

Pastor Dockery farewell set

Pastor Cameron Dockery, Minister at the Birch Ridge Community Church for 14 years, is moving out of state. A farewell party will be held in his honor at 1:30 p.m. June 3 at the Soldotna Senior Center at 197 W. Park Ave. A service will be held at 11 a.m. and a potluck at 12:30 p.m. Dessert, coffee and punch will be served at the party. For more information, call Kim Coreson at 262-4433.

Vacation Bible schools slated

The following area churches will host vacation Bible school:

· Sterling United Pentecostal Church’s vacation Bible school will be held from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. June 11 through 15. On June 16 at 11 a.m. a picnic and presentation will be held. Children ages 5 to 12 may attend. The theme will be “Avalanche Ranch.” For more information or to arrange a ride, call 262-9198.

· First Baptist Church of Kenai vacation Bible school’s theme will be “Game Day Central.” Games, snacks and Bible activities are planned. It will be held from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. from June 11 through 15 for children age 3 through grade six. For more information, call 283-7672

· The Nikiski Church of Christ’s vacation bible school will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. June 12 through 14 at the church at on Entrada Drive off Swanson River Road in Sterling. On June 14 there will be an awards program and a family lunch. For a ride or more information, call 776-5354 or 776-8970.

The Clarion is updating its Religion briefs column. Area churches are invited to submit information on current or upcoming Bible studies, open houses, events or upcoming special functions.
