The best time to go clamming is on the extreme low tides that occur regularly on the east side of Cook Inlet.
While clams can be found during "normal" low tides, the "minus" tides are the best.
For a list of the minus tides that will take place this summer at Clam Gulch and Deep Creek in Ninilchik, approximately halfway between Kenai and Homer go to http://www.peninsulaclarion.com/tides/clamgulch_june.shtml
