Opportunities for motor sports enthusiasts continue to grow on the central Kenai Peninsula on two different tracks.

Circle track

The Alaska Circle Track Association will be back at Twin City Raceway this season with stock car races scheduled throughout the summer.

Racing will include Bombers, A-stock, B-Stock and Late Model classes for the 2001 season on the three-eighths mile dirt track.

Twin City Raceway is on Shotgun Drive, Mile 6.5 of the Kenai Spur Highway. Admission is $5 for fans ages 11 and up, free for fans 10 and under, and a pit pass is $10.

The Alaska Sprint Tour, featuring winged, open-wheeled sprint cars, will return to the central peninsula for a date at the raceway July 13.

Drag races

The Kenai Peninsula Racing Lions made their weekend drag races at the Soldotna airport a popular event last summer, and the group has another season of racing planned.

The entry fee for those wishing to participate is $40, with 100 percent of the entry fees received paid out to drivers. General admission for spectators is $7 and children under 12 are free.

The Kenai Peninsula Racing Lions also sponsor a series of motocross events at their course at the Soldotna airport on Funny River Road.
