The PTA picnic lunch is Thursday, the last day of school. The staff wishes everyone a wonderful summer vacation and looks forward to seeing everyone in August.

Class lists will be posted June 2.

Mr. Daniels' class traveled to Homer last week for a guided walk of Beluga Slough. This was the culminating field trip in the class's study of estuaries, and many concepts were reinforced. The class also learned many new facts concerning that particular estuary. After the walk, the class was able to participate in a scavenger hunt at the new Islands and Oceans Visitors Center.

Mrs. Wannamaker's and Mrs. Cramer's classes walked to the Kenai Central High School pool on Tuesday for an end-of-the-year swimming party. They had a picnic along the way.

The staff thanks the PTA for making "Teacher Appreciation Week" special. They appreciated all the delicious food: Monday morning breakfast; Tuesday's salad lunch; Wednesday's soup lunch; Thursday's vegetables and fruits; and Friday, the dessert day. They staff especially enjoyed the car wash Wednesday. Also, the daily drawings for the gift baskets and special surprises were all appreciated. The staff also thanks the parents who contributed and Dena Cunningham for organizing it all. They appreciated the "Star" theme.

Mrs. Keating's fifth-graders enjoyed their field trip to the Kachemak Bay Learning Center. The instructors, Conrad and Bob, were experts in their fields and really wowed the kids. The class thanks Kim Harding, Sherian Soares, Scott Cunningham, Margo Curry and Kevin Dukowitz for chaperoning. The students congratulate class member Mary Pat Mills for winning the Division 2 Student School Bus Safety Poster Contest for the state. She won $50, and her poster has been sent to the National School Bus Safety Poster Contest competition.

Fifth-grade students will participate in mini-courses Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons.

Mrs. Keating's and Mr. Knudsen's study buddies will go on a bowling field trip today to celebrate learning and having fun together.
