The Sterling Masonic Lodge is sponsoring a Fish fry at the Sterling Senior Center on June 4 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. The all-you-can eat dinner will include beer-batter halibut and salmon, baked beans, french fries hush puppies, coleslaw, salad and dessert. The Kenai Peninsula Food Bank will be closed June 6 due to construction. Normal business hours will resume on June 7. The Fireweed Diner will be serving sack lunches beginning June 7 until mid-July while the kitchen is renovated. Lunches will be available from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. The Boys and Girls Club is accepting registrations for World Cup Soccer Camp for ages 6 to 12. Camp will run May 31 to June 3 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Kenai Middle School soccer fields. The Friends of the Kenai Community Library are collecting books for its June book sale. Book, video, DVD and puzzle donations should be brought to the Kenai Fire Department next door to the library. The Sterling Senior Center will present a Cornish game hen dinner on May 28. Dinner will be served from 5 to 7 p.m., and costs $10 per person. Only 100 dinners will be served, so make your reservations by calling 262-6808 or sign up at the front desk at the Sterling Senior Center. All proceeds will benefit the Sterling Senior Center General Operations fund.

The Sterling Senior Center will present a Gun Show (Permit #1354) July 16 and July 17 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Individuals or businesses may rent a table for $35 for this show. Admission is $5 with all proceeds from admissions and table rental going to benefit the Sterling Senior Center. A "Taurus Judge" 45/410 Revolver will be raffled. Tickets are $5 each or 5 for $20, and may be purchased at the center. The "Elderberry Caf" will be open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for lunch and snacks.
Hope's first Saturday events are scheduled for 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on June 4, July 2 and August 6. Each day will include an art walk, arts and crafts at the library, and visiting authors. Featured artists will include local gallery owner Scott Sherritt, Erica Miller, Jessie James, Isolde Gibson, and Lynn Brautigam Boots. Authors include James Sweeney on June 4, July 2 and August 3; John Sorenson on June 4, July 2 and August 6; Dwaine Schuldt on June 4 and August 6; George Harbeson, Jr. on June 4; Shelley Gill and Diane Olthuis on July 2; Dianne Barske, Dominique M. Collet and Anne Cannterberry on August 6; and James Misko. The Midnight Sun Cloggers will perform June 4 at the Hope Social Hall. June 4 is the celebration of the Hope Library's 25th anniversary, and will include a sale of local products including tie-dye T-shirts, bottlecap snake art, umami sauce, and locally designed clothing.
