Use caution with campfires

The leading causes of forest fires on the Kenai Peninsula are campfires left unattended and debris burns that get out of hand.

Everyone can help minimize fire danger by practicing the following safety tips

Never light a fire on a windy day.

Always build fires on dirt.

Have water on site to put the fire out.

Never leave a fire unattended.

Also, remember fireworks are illegal on the peninsula.
