More than $650,000 approved for wind storm damage

ANCHORAGE (AP) Individuals and business owners affected by the March windstorm in Southcentral Alaska will receive a total of $656,000 in federal disaster recovery funds so far, according to state and federal officials.

Anchorage, the Matanuska-Susitna Borough and the Kenai Peninsula were designated federal disaster areas after the storm.

Since then, 797 people have called the Federal Emergency Management Agency for assistance, officials said.

The deadline to apply for FEMA assistance is June 25.
